Have you noticed gorgeous sparkly toes and fingers everywhere you go? Cora (who just turned 2) loves all things girly so, I decided dress up her little toes while giving her a pedicure. I loved it so much that her Mama had to join in the fun too! This is super easy girls! Here's how:

you will need:

fast drying nail polish (the only kind to use when you are painting little fingers/toes)

irridescent craft glitter (with a shaker top)

clear polish (fast drying)

All I did:

paint on the base color, a couple of nails at a time, no need to be super precise

shake on the glitter

blow off the excess

once they're dry apply a thin layer of clear polish

p.s. the glitter can get a bit messy so, if you are concerned shake it off over a container

It's true! This past year has been a whirlwind.... What an awesome b-day celebration though. It started out with my Mom texting me at 5:37 a.m. (she could never forget when I was born!). A day filled with sweet friends and family, who could ask for more?

As in Ralph Lauren! I don't know what specifically it is about his designs but they literally make me weak in the knees! It never fails, to inspire me, conjure up romantic thoughts and just make me feel like I'm in totally luxury (am I gushing?).

Just look at these yummy pics of some of his interiors/fabrics. I think my bedroom needs a whole new redo. I have some Ralph floral fabric I've been saving, mix that with a little ticking, crochet bits an old quilt and maybe a flour sack pillow and I can just taste the Americana, can't you?

I thought this was such an oxymoron. Because, I live smack dab in the middle of the city. Yesterday, Cora called my attention to something outside our window. It was a CHICKEN! A REAL LIVE HONEST TO GOODNESS CHICKEN! I have no idea what happened to the little hen after she came and visited us for a while yesterday, I was hoping to wake up to fresh eggs this morning but alas, she didn't leave me any presents. I hope she comes back and visits us again soon. The expression on Cora's face was priceless and I really needed a pick me up. Doncha just love lifes little suprises : )

Shelly's in the HOUSE

Last night after work, I went to my friend Shelly's house. She hosted a ladies night of shopping for jewelry and clothes. I brought my goods and she had hers. Ladies shopped, drank champagne or margaritas and of course admired her lovely home. One of the things I love most about Shelly's home is her artwork. All on loan from her Mother-in-Law Marti Beson. I have a new job too! Sirens and Saints is a boutique in downtown Phoenix that is a sister store to Rust and Roses. Shelly Session has been a long time friend and now she is my boss. She is very talented and I am just tickled down to my toes about the opportunity to work along side her. FYI: Annie Selke is the designer for Pinecone Hill and she is now selling fabrics at Joanns. I found her fabrics online for about $28 per yard. I just adore this clean, colorful, well designed look that she put together. Hmmm... I think a couple of throw pillows would be perfect for my new house.

Happy Monday! I've been busy creating more goodies and trying to figure out the best way to sell on ETSY. I just listed the earrings (above) on my etsy page (just click to the right on the picture labeled "my etsy" and it will take you there). I also made little Coco a few summer dresses.

And speaking of my sweet angel; it's been a while since you've seen any pics...what kind of mother am I?! So here is Cora helping her Mama sew. I just had the opportunity to watch this movie late late last night (did I mention late?). But it was worth it! I truly was entertained by this fantasy land and it's always enjoyable to see how weird Johnny Depp can be :-)

I am amazed that 30 years after first seeing the original, that I can be entertained by the same story line. Maybe I will never grow up??? (hehehehe) Have you had a chance to see it? I'd love to hear your comments...

WooHoo!!!! I missed you blog world! You've been in my thoughts often, I just haven't had the opportunity to write to you. But I am back (and hopefully for good!). Lots of things going on in my personal life : ( but, Cora is great and growing like crazy and I am good too and trying to be the best Mommy I can...

The Snuggie Challenge

Today I was contacted by The Arizona Republic and asked if I would be up to the challenge of making the Snuggie more "chic" looking. Sounds like a fun project, so I accepted. HMMMM!!! What was I thinking???!!! To make a blanket with sleeves look chic?! But seriously, I AM up for a good challenge-and have a couple of ideas already. Thought I would post about it to see what you all thought-I am wide open to suggestions.... I have to be finished with the final product by Monday, November 23rd and the only requirement is that I keep the integrity of the idea of the Snuggie and I can choose any color I wish (red, blue or sage).

I just got my puter up in running again after it being sick for almost a week (I missed it & you terribly). To Market, to market

I'm so excited to be able to show you some goods I will have at the upcoming market November 6th & 7th @ Inside the Bungalow. Usually, it's just me and little Cora so I don't have the opportunity to have pics taken of myself in anything I make BUT it's Halloween and of course MeMaw is here so I finagled her into taking a couple of me (even though she is quite camera challenged). And, I didn't think you would care that my hair isn't styled or that I don't have any makeup on-it's just me au naturale...sorry...

I totally adore the mix of fabrics on my peasant tops, vintage fabrics, PLAIDS & mixing in some funky designer fabrics (mostly discontinued Amy Butlers, Sis Boom, Kaffe Fassett & Heather Bailey). Check out my bag!!! That's right, I made it and am having some similar at the market-so get there early, at the last market I sold out of bags, but tried to make plenty this time. Also, fun and frilly vintagy scarfs! Too too much-doncha think!!!!

I've had this conversation with my girlfriends on what style are they. I honestly can't pick one! I love certain things about all styles of interiors, so most people call that Eclectic. Yes, eclectic is one way to describe it but I like to just call it "Pretty", "Romantic" or just "Comfortable". While I love an all white room, I don't have that kind of discipline for myself in my personal decorating. I like color too much-and pattern, so minimalism is def. not my style either although I really appreciate it. Here are some photos to serve as some eye-candy, for me...I know you are probably looking at them thinking, there isn't many similarities between these pics but to me, it's all about mixing and matching colors/patterns/textures and creating that perfect juxtaposition in room settings. Hey all! I just wanted to post some pics of some of the happenings around here. Besides working like a mad seamstress for the upcoming Western Ball & Market, I have been celebrating Cora's 1st b-day, attending the Domestic Bliss Halloween Open House, trying to figure out which vintage western boots to wear and with what accessories for the ball. Oh and I have to tell you! I found a really cool artist named Lisa w/P Double L who does some cool Western almost Flinstone type of jewelry, w/an amazing $$(e-mail me if you would like her information).

Lastly, I met up with my friend Liz for lunch and shopping this past week. With Cora in tow we headed to Downtown Glendale's Cottage Garden, where my friend Pauline tipped us off on a HUGE deal at a nearby Costco. All I remember is her mentioning Tracy Porter and Costco in the same sentence and I got a confused look on my face and asked her to repeat herself. When she pulled out a 2 tiered server by Tracy Porter and said $10 @ Costco, Liz and I looked at each other and did a mad dash to the closest one. When we entered the store, there they were in a big bundle right in front marked down to $8 each. We quickly grabbed 2 shopping carts and began to fill them as high as we could. Apparently we created such a frenzy that women from all over the store started grabbing the boxes, alas we were only left with a couple for each of us. However, what a deal! It's times like those that make the shopping experience truly gratifying...

PRETTY IN PINK

Ya know, sometimes I think the color pink gets a bad rap... For instance it is thought of as more of a color for girls, Just like the title of this blog, "Pretty in Pink", I always think of Molly Ringwald in her pink prom dress. But honestly, I love it when a man wears pink, it usually is a very flattering color and proves he's okay with his own masculinity.
When using Pink in interiors, even if it's just a touch here or there, it makes other colors look more scrumptious (hint: try mixing it with unexpected colors, i.e. purple or orange for a little pop).
Lastly, I like adding a little pink to every outfit-not in a too sweet of a way but in a 'I'm a little funky and cool' kinda style. For instance, if you are wearing a red sweater, try adding a pink brooch to it, again unexpected, right?
I hope you enjoyed the few pics of some unexpected ways to add pink... what do ya think? I'd love to hear how you add a little pink to your life also...

White ALL OVER

Since I'm like Speedy Gonzales on the sewing machine and am in a constant state of decorating and re-decorating, I've been doing some small projects to help beautify some dear friends homes... With that said, here are a couple of pics of a parsons chair slipcover and a bedskirt I recently made. What do you think? The skirt was made from white linen but if you don't have the budget for real linen, here is a simple way to make a plain white cotton feel more like that glorious fabric they call LINEN:

Tough Love Fabric Treatment

1. Toss the yardage in hot water for at least 2 washings.
2. Throw the fabrics into a hot dryer with at least 24 sheets of fabric softener.
3. Wash the pieces again to remove the film from the dryer sheets.
4. Dry the yardage without softener.

The fabric feels soft to the touch and will get softer each time you wash it- just like old jeans.

My Baby is 1

That's right!!! Cora will be turning 1 year old tomorrow. We are headed off to Prescott to spend the rest of the week with family and to celebrate this BIG Birthday. What a blessing she has been in my life, I really couldn't imagine how amazing being a mother truly is. I just want to thank God for allowing me to be part of this wonderful little girls life and also share with you all my joy. Have a great week!

Together with her co-conspirator Pauline, they find some of the absolute COOLEST goods!!! I've spent many a paycheck there and I ALWAYS seem to be able to find something fun and unusual. The best part is that it is located in Historic Catlin Court in downtown Glendale, where Carol has turned the most charming little houses into an absolute heaven for girls! Busy weekend...

Classes back to back at Blissful Living this weekend; one on Friday evening and another on Saturday. This Friday I will be teaching the adorable Patchwork Skirt-the patchwork part is premade for you so that you will have an adorable skirt finished and ready to wear when you leave, it's an excellent class for beginning sewers too!
Then I have this oh-so-cute Peasant Dress class on Saturday, I borrowed this pic from my friend Kimberly from the blog Boarding House, Kimberly has been one of my best clients lately and she has the cutest blog. She purchased the Peasant Dress kit along with the fabrics she made her dress out of from me. I just love how adorable this one turned out-THANKS KIM!
I know some of you are thinking; "how cute, but I can't sew". I understand the difficulties that people come across while making projects and I really strive to make your sewing experience fun AND easy-if you haven't taken a class from me yet, either of my classes this weekend would be an excellent beginners class for you to start with and Blissful Living will even help arrange for a sewing machine for you if you don't have one yet (how much easier could it be?)...

I love it when I get inspired by what YOU make. In one of Saturdays .classes my friend Shelly made the cutest peasant top. Unfortunately, you can't tell how pretty the fabrics looked together by the picture taken but I was so inspired that I made this pretty dress today. I'm terrible at taking pictures of myself but it gives you an idea of the fabrics. How pretty and it's so reminiscent of Rachel Ashwells Shabby Chic (early years).

What fun, to be turning 8, a young lady, meeting new girls your age and learning new crafts! These girls were so AMAZING! So full of energy and the things children say-you gotta love it! We made a ruffled necklace, bamboo handle bag, skirt AND then they talked me into making summer tops! All within 4 hours-now that's a whirlwind!!!
The camp is going on all week, and I've gotta tell you, sending your little girl to this retreat is a major treat! The Alber's Cottage is so fabulous and everything is supplied, they will definitely have the time of their lives-I know I did!

Saturday's class, was a FULL house & we had sew much fun! It always surprises me that everyone's skirt looks different from each other, even though the concept is the same. Unfortunately, I took such few pics but trust me the skirts turned out amazing!

Monday I will be visiting the Alber Cottage to teach the projects below, for the "Pretty Lil' Things Girl's Creative Retreat". Aren't these project adorable?! I think that sewing is such a valuable skill and with these fun projects, the girls should really have a great time! I'll try to remember to take more pics!

Fit for a Queen. Who wouldn't want to live in a building with a crown on top?

What a Beauty! Love the architecture!

This was taken inside of a Eastern Orthodox Church, the ceiling is domed. I thought what an amazing depiction of the Father, Son & Holy Ghost.

After hundreds of years, still proudly wearing that sunny shade of yellow.

Beautiful buildings EVERYWHERE!

Where there are not buildings, there are forests. I took this of a wild horse, no fence, no owner, just living freely.

Behind these huge building facades, you enter a courtyard with many apartments & suites. I tried to bring home a door, but the weight limit was too much!

Phew! - Close call! I almost got ran over by a horse and buggy?!

I love the juxtaposition of the businesses below with their brightly colored facades and the older building left as-is on top.

Every July for the past 7 years, I have prepared to leave for Romania. In Romania, we host an English Camp for children ages 6-14. The children have become quite close to our hearts, some we get to see every year, some only come just once but I will never forget them. Of course since my little addition, I haven't been able to go for the second consecutive year. I still think that I should be packing my bags and weighing them to make sure I don't go over the airline weight limit and stocking up on all the cool stickers and craft supplies I can find (some things you will not find in Romania).
As I think about what I miss most about Romania, I love the people we've gotten to meet, we have developed some lifetime friends. But I also love the culture and the beautiful country. I wanted to share some pics of this beautiful country with you. I hope you enjoyed...

I'm in love with patchwork. I know I use that word 'love' alot but it is true in this case! I can't imagine my life without it! -Patchwork just makes me happy... I'm a sucker for pretty dishes and I know that I share this problem with ALLot of you ladies out there! You see a pretty dish at an antique store, junquing or at your favorite boutique and you've just gotta have it! But what to do with it once you get it home?? Besides bringing it out occasionally to display pretties. I want to enjoy it more often then that! I get so sad when I open the cupborad and see those pretty cups and saucers just sitting there as they get passed by day after day for the bigger more substantial mugs and plates. So here is a TERRIFIC idea. I love this and am going to work on this next. Don't you just love these pretty light fixtures? I want to turn my builder issued guest bathroom vanity sconce into one of these-and click here for directions....

Easy Peasy Artsy Letters - Tutorial

I purchased these 12" paper mache letters at Joannes for about $4 each. They have all sizes and some different styles too.

Then I painted the sides in a neutral color to blend with my papers.

I laid out the letter on the scrap book paper to get an idea of where the pattern would be.

Then with an Exacto knife I cut out around the edges. If you don't have an Exacto knife or don't trust yourself with one, you can trace around the letter and then cut it out with scissors.

I laid the precut paper onto the letter to make sure I like the way it looked.

Then with the magic of MOD PODGE, glued down the letter. Don't be stingy with this stuff, it will dry clear.

Then to seal the top down I went over it again with MOD PODGE. I choose a gloss lustre because I like the shine but it comes in other finishes.

Lightly rub all the edges with a brown ink stamp pad to give it some depth and patina.

Lastly, hang on the wall to enjoy - these would look cool on a ledge or shelf too! I hung mine with the clear plastic tabs they came with (I just stapled the tab down for reinforcement).

I hope you enjoy making these as much as I did....

My favorite thing (right now) - I really like how this window treatment in my kitchen turned out. It kinda evolved - I started with the Kaffe Fassett Henna fabric and then I found a coordinate for the insets and it still needed something-the Sis Boom stripe is a perfect compliment!

Here is the new style Carpet bag for this weekends class. I love, love this bag-so fun & summery! What I love about making your own bag is it's extremely gratifying to make one yourself that you would spend just as much $$ or more on at a store but something this small takes ALOT less time than say a slipcover...

You might remember these wingback chairs from last summers slipcover craze. I had them covered in different fabrics because we had 2 spaces that we have now combined to make our Great Room. I love the feel of this Great Room-it has kinda that caribbean/cool beachey/easy vibe going on. Thanks to Amy Butler's Nigella fabrics that I used for this room in blues, browns, greys and greens-a little more grown up of a color scheme then the nook but just as fun! Girls let me just tell ya, making slipcovers using old slipcovers as a pattern made this job sooo much easier-it cut my labor time in half-I did both of these yesterday in about 4-5 hours and without the patterns it would have taken twice as long. I love easy! What do you think?

My new Breakfast Nook

Okay-I promised more pics. I'm nearly done and had to share.

The process:
I had decided on a pink kitchen a while ago. You might have noticed me toying with the idea in some previous posts. You see, Hubby reads my blog and I was sure my posts would elicit a response. It did, after the first pink kitchen pictures he came home and said "you are not going to paint our kitchen pink!" (really). So, I took it almost as a dare; to find the MOST perfect shade of pink that even he could not resist. That's when I found Angela Henrie's blog and the color used to paint her kitchen pink. Although, I took it down a shade to ensure the approval by Hubby. At first he fought it (I think just the thought of it scared him) but now he actually says he likes it!

From there I took on the repapering of the wainscot. (I showed you the Papaya paper from Domestic Bliss already) all I did was apply it under the chair rail using wallpaper paste that you buy in a can at the hardware store. No rhyme or reason just slapped it up, I didn't even use a tape measure once.

Next, I had been admiring the look of different color chairs around a table. So I figured why not? Since I had already conquered the pink kitchen, this was small potatoes! I bought primer and spray paint at the hardware store for a dollar each (clearance colors). This was not hard to do-I just took the chairs outside and went at it!

Next I used my Kaffe Fassett fabrics the colors went PERFECTLY with the already imposed color scheme. I made some really simple rod pocket curtains for my french doors. (I'll be happy to post directions if you aren't sure how to make them). And also a small runner for the table (for this I used iron on stitch witchery).

The chandelier is one I bought at a junque sale for $5. I just took off the old shades and glued on some prestrung beads that I purchased at SAS for $.50 per yard. The glue I used is Clear Liquid Nails-I LOVE that stuff!

Lastly, the framed picture is one I found junquing (again) and I just painted the extremely bright gold frame lime green (I mixed together about 3 paint bottles I already had) and then brushed it with the turquoise paint on top.

The Mad Scientist...

Sometimes I feel like a 'Mad Scientist' working in a laboratory late at night, mixing and matching colors, patterns and anything else that won't sit still. Luckily I have a husband that supports the insanity.

About a week ago we were sitting in our finished home looking at a wall that we had been considering knocking out when the wild hair struck. We got out the sledge hammer and killed the unsuspecting wall... Well, you know how one thing leads into another... so then we had to pull up ALL of the flooring and then repaint ALL of the walls. I am proud to say after one week of jack-hammering thinset, mudding walls, painting, laying baseboards, and of course MY NEW FLOOR, the house is livable again.

This is a partial shot of the the breakfast nook with a patchwork of 'Papaya' papers that I got from Domestic Bliss.

More pictures to come, promise. This is the first I've gotten on the internet in over a week-did I mention that we also blew out our internet somehow when we took out the wall??

Finally recovering from Friday and Saturday... I had the time of my life! How lucky I felt to finally meet all the wonderful ladies from California. Also to share a booth with my favorite jewelry artist, Shelly Beson (I DIE!) she was Frida Kahlo reincarnate for the event. EVERYTHING was beautiful and full of creativity, starting with the location, Dan and Kristin's homes are beautiful and their backyards are what we all want our backyards to look like;

porches with plenty of seating
green green grass
hydrangeas still growing in 100 degree weather

It was perfect and I was in heaven!

I regret not taking pictures, it's just that I got swept up in all the magic of the event and forgot. I posed plenty though-if you peruse some of the girlfriends sites you will see what I mean (I'm such a ham!).

Really, what made this all worth while was the wonderful ladies who came to shop and be inspired. I just want to tell you that you inspire me and thank you for coming from the bottom of my heart. what I've been up to...

I would like to post more pics of what I've been making but I cannot, I really want you to come to the market and see for yourself-I promise you will be pleasantly surprised if you do. But I wanted to show you these beautiful pieces of clothing.
The skirt Tricia is wearing was made from an Anna Maria Horner fabric from Blissful, we put red tulle and some vintage pink/pink trim on the bottom I love how it turned out, don't you? If you haven't taken this class, I have one more coming up before summer hits on Friday May 29th from 6-9.
This is my favorite dress right now. I made this using lots of scraps and although it took me nearly a whole day to do, it was worth it. I used an Anna Maria Horner fabric for the top portion and just paired it with lots of scraps, some purchased at Blissful and some vintage. What do you think? I want your opinion because I'm thinking of taking special orders for this one.
Lastly, this picture is from Sweet Baby Jamie's blog, She took my jean skirt class this past week and made these adorable little skirts-so cute Jamie!!!

Here are some pics of some classes I have had lately. "A-Line Skirt Class", "Boho Skirt Class" and a new purse I've been working on. I love, love teaching, it's such a great time of bonding and sharing, thank you to ALL the ladies who have taken my classes!!! More on COLOR

My ode to color continues. This is a trick that I learned in design school. It's amazing to me how when you start to pair colors that you can make them look totally different just by tweaking the hue. It almost looks like there is a line in the center and that the background color is different on either side. But it's just the foreground color that is different and only by a hue or two.

I'm just playing as I'm contemplating my new palette.

Any thoughts?

I have been collecting some pics of "Colorful" kitchens (not sure of the sources-sorry). Since hubby is graduating next week, after 2 years of taking a sort-of hiatus on decorating, due to long nights of writing countless number of papers, I'm going to have my partner in crime back! We will be painting, knocking down walls, filling in the pool, installing new windows etc, etc.

Golly, I didn't even realize it! I've had 100 posts! Whodathunkit? I began this blog based on Kristin @ Domestic Bliss' suggestion-never blogged before in my life. In fact I had never even seen a blog, but I jumped in feet first and never looked back! We will have to commemorate this occasion properly-with a giveaway (that will be my next post). I took Katie's Yo-Yo necklace class last night; what fun-let me tell ya! I don't know which is more fun, the social or creative aspect. The group of ladies who took the class- I just couldn't have chose any better! We were all there because we love to create, it just feels so good to fill up your 'creative tank' when you are around like minded women! Skirts are a no brainer when it comes to putting together an outfit, just add a tank or t-shirt and you look pulled together.
Skirts make you look slimmer. They accentuate the smallest part of you (your waist) and make all those bumps and ripples look nice and smooth.
Skirts are so much cooler to wear than shorts or pants (for obvious reasons).

Getting Ready for COCO's 1st Easter...

As I'm getting ready for Cora's first Easter, I just wanted to take time and share with you a special goody that I'm adding to her basket (maybe it's more for me?). I love these cupcakes that Katie taught me how to make (btw, she'll be teaching this class tomorrow 2-4) I'm making a couple to add to the Easter basket with oodles of fun colors, Cora is sure to love these soft cupcakes!
Also, next Wednesday the 15th, hopefully you've already got your taxes done. Because you won't want to miss this EMERGENCY class just put on the schedule at Blissful. Flower Children of the world UNITE!

I've noticed a few things working with clients on their homes. One of which always surprises me; basically, there are two kinds of people, those who adore flowers in their homes and those who-let's just say-DO NOT. Don't you hate it when you lose something that isn't yours? Well since my little Coco came along this happens to me ALL the time! Everyone warned me of this phenomenon called "losing your memory", I just didn't heed their warning. Luckily, I found Tricia's & Jessi's measurements in time to make & bring them these darling skirts. (I had put them in a place where I was sure not to "lose" them-my work bag). Someone tell me, do you ever get your memory back, or is it just gone for good???

Last night I had a class with an exceptional group of ladies ( Hubby and Coco came as well (also exceptional!). We made these super-crafty-aprons. Aren't they adorable! I have a couple of kits left if you are interested in making your own.

Don't you just love that term 'Boho'? It's just so cool and urban sounding. Anyways, I had been wanting to give you some ideas to add some more of that 'Boho'/'Gypsy'/'Artist'/'Boutique' look to your wardrobe. Besides wearing them in your hair, on a vintage sweater or on a jean jacket, flowers are such a beautiful way to dress up your shoes too! Hope you enjoy!

I know I've talked to you in the past about my love for Tracy Porter. I just think she has such beautiful art that she brings to mainstream America & mostly it's pretty affordable. I adore how in every piece she mix & matches patterns & color. It's a no stress way of decorating! I have especially loved her pillows & bedding (above).

Also, check out her blog. She has been doing an online video nearly everyday. Giving decorating advice and her take on just about everything. Also, she just came out with these FREE tags. They say they are for Easter but they are really quite beautiful to use everyday (afterall they are from Tracy!).

Where do you create? Is it at the kitchen table, family room or are you lucky enough to have a space of your own? As I'm designing a new space for my creativity, I've collected some pics of some rooms ideas where I would feel inspired and organized (2 essential ingredients). I apologize for neglecting to keep track of where they are from; I know I've gotten some from Flickr: Craft Rooms .

Do you notice a theme? Me too-I love the white furniture pieces with tons of different cubby holes (especially against a bright wall color). I also like the element of a vintage piece of furniture among all the utilitarian pieces. What do you think, what does your dream studio look like?

I love this idea from the blog stuff in the burbs. It's so easy (ntm affordable) to change your decor by just changing out some lampshades and pillows. For this project all you need is some natural color solid lampshade, stencils and paint. I think these lamps that I got recently while out junking would be perfect companions for this shade-don't you?

OOH! And I need to have matching pillows too-how cute would that be? Now to choose the words to spell out... this may be the hardest part... 'Nest', 'Paris', 'Amore', do you have any more ideas???

I really hope I have time in the very near future for this-if so I will post pics. Let me know if you do this one!

Makeover

I had been contemplating a makeover- you know, new hair style, maybe some new makeup and losing those last few pounds of the "baby weight".

When yesterday I received a different type of makeover. While visiting Hubby's Grandma, she said something to me that made me STOP and THINK. She said "there isn't anything better than to be young, beautiful and have a baby". Thinking about these words makes me feel very humble. How often do I take for granted my life and what I've been given?

I think I will take these words and hang on tight to them. After all they are spoken from someone who has been there already. There isn't anything better, enjoy it now because life passes you by too quickly. Sometimes I get caught up in 'things' and need to be reminded of it.

Hoping you see the beauty in your life too.

'Mary Delores'

The beautiful Katie at Blissful Living

It's finally here, something I've been dreaming about for weeks. Usually it's the process of creating something that is the most gratifying part of what I do. But sometimes, the outcome trumps it... That's what happened here.

I am so in love with this tote that I named it after my Grandma Mary Delores. She was from Puerto Rico, a cute little fiery latino woman, she could make anything with her hands and she taught me alot of what I know. She's the Grandma that always stocked her cookie jar full of your favorite cookies in anticipation for your visit. During World War 2, while working in a hospital in Puerto Rico she met and fell in love with one of the wounded soldiers, my Grandfather. I wonder how could two people fall in love without knowing how to speak the others language? Well, they married and moved to "this country" (that's what she called it) and she never lost her thick accent. She learned to speak English by watching the other ladies from the base order their meat at the supermarket and of course through day-time television.

I'd love to make each of my dear readers one of these special totes but regretfully, it is VERY limited. There are only 6 available and I am offering them exclusively through Blissful Living. More 'A' Skirts!!!

I just finished these for my friend, Amy. These will help kick off her summer wardrobe (it's nearly 80 degrees here-so I guess she can start summer now!). I met her at Blissful to pick out the fabrics. I love them all but I'm very partial to the black/white Sis Boom fabric, I added hot pink ric-rac to the bottom of that one.

Today I got to go hang at Domestic Bliss and Blissful Living. Tricia was there for "Technique Tuesday" (every Tuesday in March) and she taught me how to make these wonderful little tags. This is the second class I've had with her and she is just so sweet and talented-there isn't anything she can't do with paper!!! I love her-love her!

Also, she is going to be teaching this class next... I will be taking this also!!! I need some cute little cupcakes to hang on little's wall. But first I will have to take something down because of course her walls are already filled and I know as soon as I get those cupcakes home I will want to hang them!

Lastly, I felt like I had died and gone to fabric heaven! And I'm not the only one-while I was there a lady came in looking for fabrics to redo her 8 parsons chairs and before she left we decided that there are too many cute fabrics to choose just one, so she is going to slipcover them each in a different fabric! Can I please come over for dinner? I promise not to eat anything, I just want to see how awesome they turn out!
Can you guess what these will become? Let's just say I see a few more skirts and totes on the horizon.

I only wear Benefit makeup-it's my favorite!!! I love their cheeky names-and now they've come out with one named after my daughter, (she's a very popular little girl). CoraLista is their new powder/blush/bronzer. Their products always can do double duty and are pretty much mistake proof even for a novice make applier like me. Doncha just love the CORAl color?

Something to do with old tin

This is a kind of neat way to display photos. I came across an artist doing this but was charging a small fortune for the one of a kind pieces. Paying for the photography is expensive enough sometimes! So, I thought 'I can do that'! And I did! It's a cool way to display your loved ones photos-donchathink? All you need is some old tin with a smooth center and a digital picture. I found my tin at Rust and Roses and E-Bay. The pictures I had printed on canvas at Poster Signs (very inexpensive, it was less than $10 for all 3). I applied the canvas to the center of the tin using my favorite tool= Clear Liquid Nails. And Voila!!!
